How to Treat Drink Credits in Your POS System (Adding a Payment Type)
You will want to add a custom payment type or "tender key" to your POS system for Shared Spirits.
Just like any form of payment that is accepted at your business, a specific Shared Spirits tender key should be added to your POS so that your staff can apply a customer’s redeemed drink value to their bill.
You can add a custom payment key by logging into your POS system's admin console.You will want to create a unique tender type on your POS called "Shared Spirits" that allows you to enter any dollar value.
Shared Spirits should be set up the same way that you currently handle any other non-cash / non-credit tenders (GrubHub, UberEats, Caviar, etc). Name this new tender “Shared Spirits” This process varies depending on your POS provider (i.e. Clover, Revel, Aloha, etc.)
